Megger MFT-X0 Multifunction Tester with Software

Megger MFT-X0: everything you need to know about Megger's new everyday tester

Get a clear view of three-phase voltages with the Megger MFT-X0.

Tired of waiting for loop readings to settle and wasting time typing up certificates?

The newly released Megger MFT-X0 solves both.

With True Loop technology, a live Confidence Meter, and Bluetooth transfer to CertSuite Installation, it keeps your testing fast, accurate, and hassle-free.

MFT-X0 could be a perfect fit for your workload, or would the MFT-X1's additional functions be useful? Let's discover which tester is right for you...

Why your choice of multifunction tester matters

A good multifunction tester helps you obtain readings you can interpret confidently and record accurately.

Electrical noise is often a challenge when loop testing. Features that help assess measurement stability are therefore useful when readings fluctuate. Clear controls, connection guidance and direct results transfer also make a difference as you move between testing and certification.

What does the Megger MFT-X0 offer?

๐Ÿ”Ž More confidence in loop readings

True Loop technology and Confidence Meter help produce stable, repeatable loop results, including on electrically noisy supplies.

The Confidence Meter shows measurement progress and the influence of noise. Typical non-trip test times are around seven seconds on quiet circuits, with timing dependent on conditions.

The X0 provides two-wire and three-wire non-trip testing, plus two-wire high-current testing. Where a neutral is available, the three-wire non-trip method gives a quicker, more accurate result than the two-wire non-trip method.

High existing circuit leakage can still cause an RCD to trip during a non-trip test.

๐ŸŽ›๏ธ Core tests with useful control

The MFT-X0’s functions include:

  • Insulation resistance: 100 V, 250 V, 500 V and 1,000 V settings, with stabilised output to keep the applied voltage close to the selected value
  • Continuity: 200 mA and 10 mA settings, with an adjustable buzzer threshold
  • RCD testing: Type AC, A and B devices, including selective variants, with configurable automatic sequences and ramp testing
  • Voltage-drop calculation: using a reference loop value, Zref, and a circuit-current setting

Configurable RCD sequences let you select the tests relevant to the device and your testing requirements. As with any installation tester, correct voltage selection and circuit preparation remain essential.

๐Ÿ“ฑ Less retyping after testing

Bluetooth lets you send circuit-tagged results to CertSuite Installation on a compatible Android or iOS phone or tablet.

This reduces the need to copy readings manually into certification software and can help reduce transcription errors. Authorised colleagues can also access results through the cloud application.

Remember to budget for software: CertSuite Installation is offered as a monthly or yearly subscription. Bluetooth compatibility does not mean a paid licence is included with the tester.

๐Ÿงค Practical features for site work

The bonded colour TFT display includes a black-on-white mode for difficult lighting conditions. Rotary controls can be operated while wearing gloves, and graphical connection guidance is available on screen.

The IP54 enclosure provides protection against dust ingress and water splashes for everyday indoor and outdoor work. It should not be treated as a waterproof rating.

๐Ÿ”‹ Flexible power and straightforward updates

The Megger MFT-X0 comes with a carrier and eight AA alkaline batteries. A rechargeable Li-ion pack and charger are optional accessories, allowing you to choose the power arrangement that suits your working routine.

The battery system supports tool-free changes, so the optional rechargeable Li-ion pack can be swapped without reaching for a screwdriver. Keeping a charged spare ready can help minimise interruptions on site, allowing you to get back to testing without waiting for a depleted battery to recharge.

Available firmware updates can also be installed by the user via microSD card, without returning the instrument for the update.

Why consider a Megger Multifunction Tester?

Megger's electrical testing history dates back to Sydney Evershed’s insulation tester in 1889, with the Megger trademark registered in 1903. Its wider heritage also includes the AVO Meter, introduced in 1923, alongside decades of development in insulation, cable and circuit-breaker testing.

That gives the Megger name more than 135 years of electrical testing heritage. For electricians choosing equipment today, this longstanding specialism is a meaningful part of the brand’s appeal: a history built around helping professionals measure, investigate and understand electrical systems, carried forward in the MFT-X0’s practical approach to installation testing.

For everyday site use, the MFT-X0 pairs its IP54 enclosure with a rugged, weather-resistant carry case, helping protect the instrument between jobs. True Loop technology and the Confidence Meter also help electricians judge when a reading has stabilised, giving practical reasons to value both Megger’s site-focused design and its measurement technology.
