Megger 1017399 CI-VS-2 Cable Identification Set – For De-energised Cables
The Megger CI-VS-2 Cable Identification Set is designed to help identify de-energised power cables before cutting or jointing. Combining the CI TX-2 transmitter with the CI RX receiver, it provides a portable system for selecting the required cable during maintenance and installation work.
The transmitter sends defined current pulses into the connected cable. Used with a compatible flexible clamp, the receiver detects the resulting electromagnetic field and displays the signal on an LED indicator scale. Monitoring pulse shape, polarity, amplitude and timing helps distinguish the identification signal from interference, while adjustable sensitivity supports assessment of the displayed signal.
Mains and rechargeable battery operation give the CI TX-2 flexibility for use at different locations. The transmitter, receiver and supplied accessories are housed in a transport case for convenient storage and movement between sites.
- Defined identification pulses: the CI TX-2 produces pulses with a peak current of up to 100 A, a pulse voltage of 55 V DC and a pulse width of 72 ms.
- Regular pulse sequence: 30 pulses per minute.
- Flexible transmitter power: operates from a 100–240 V AC, 50/60 Hz supply or a 12 V DC rechargeable lithium-ion battery.
- Transmitter battery operation: specified operating time of 4 hours, with a charging time of 6 hours.
- Adjustable receiver sensitivity: gain from 3 to 24 dB in 10 steps.
- Long receiver operating time: the CI RX provides more than 50 hours of operation from two 1.5 V AA batteries.
- Portable components: transmitter weighs 1.6 kg; receiver weighs 0.4 kg.
- IP54 protection: both transmitter and receiver are rated IP54, with an operating temperature range of −10 °C to +60 °C.
