Megger FREJA 546R Relay Test System

The Megger FREJA 546R is a portable, multi-phase relay test system for commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting. It supports testing of electromechanical, solid-state and microprocessor-based protective relays, motor overload relays and similar protective devices.

Three VIGEN voltage/current modules provide four voltage channels and three current channels. Converting three voltage channels into additional current outputs provides one voltage and six current channels, supporting applications such as three-phase transformer differential protection testing.

The FREJA 546R is available with an integrated 25.7 cm colour touchscreen for testing directly from the instrument. Display-equipped models support manual and automated testing without a separate computer. A version without a display is also available for users who prefer PC control.

RTMS Enhanced software is included, providing test control and management alongside access to Megger’s relay template library through RTMS Template Manager.

Megger FREJA 546R Relay Test System being used

  • Powerful current outputs: each main current channel delivers up to 32 A at 200 VA continuously, or 60 A at 319 VA for 1.5 seconds.
  • Parallel current capability: three main current channels can be combined to provide up to 180 A at 957 VA for short-duration testing.
  • Automatic range changing: adjusts output ranges under load, reducing interruptions during tests.
  • PowerV voltage amplifiers: provide a flat power curve from 30 to 150 V for demanding applications, including relay panel testing and older electromechanical distance relays.
  • Transient testing: replays recorded faults and simulations in COMTRADE format for acceptance testing and troubleshooting.
  • Programmable binary inputs and outputs: support relay timing, logic testing and circuit-breaker simulation.
  • Test result storage: display-equipped units can save results internally for later transfer to a USB drive.
  • Reusable relay templates: RTMS Template Manager provides access to downloadable test templates and updates to support repeatable testing.

Configure the FREJA 546R for your application.

Optional hardware licences enable IEC 61850 GOOSE and IEC 61850 9-2 LE Sampled Values testing with the appropriate software. With the Sampled Values option enabled, the system supports up to three simultaneous Sampled Values streams. Synchronised end-to-end testing is supported with suitable external GPS or IRIG-B timing equipment.

Standard accessories include a power cord, Ethernet communication cable and instruction manual on a USB stick.

Specify the display option, mains plug type, test lead package, low-level output option and required IEC 61850 licences when requesting a quote. Transit cases are available separately.

Note: Be sure to check the official datasheet before buying, and the user manual before using any test equipment. Need training? Just reach out - we’re happy to help.
