Chauvin Arnoux CA6526 Insulation & Continuity Tester
The Chauvin Arnoux CA6526 Insulation & Continuity Tester combines insulation testing, electrical measurements and results storage in one handheld instrument. Designed for industrial maintenance, it helps you assess insulation condition and compare findings from previous inspections.
Choose from five test voltages and measure insulation resistance up to 200 GΩ at 1000 V. Additional functions cover continuity, voltage, frequency, resistance and capacitance.
Flexible Insulation Testing
Select a test voltage of 50, 100, 250, 500 or 1000 V to suit the equipment and test requirements.
- Manual: hold the TEST button while measuring.
- Lock: start and stop the test without holding the button.
- Timed: set a duration and let the test finish automatically.
PI and DAR functions compare readings taken at different times to help assess insulation condition.
The full insulation measurement range reaches 200 GΩ. The specified range for insulation measurements complying with IEC 61557 extends up to 2 GΩ.
Clear Results During Inspections
The backlit screen combines a dual digital display with a logarithmic bar graph. Alongside the main reading, the secondary display provides test voltage, test current or timer information.
Fixed and customisable alarm thresholds work with a red/green Pass/Fail indicator, giving a visible result even when the buzzer is switched off.
Relative mode shows the difference from a reference measurement, with percentage comparison also available.
Continuity Testing with Added Protection
Choose between 200 mA and 20 mA continuity test currents. The lower current helps reduce battery consumption, while lead compensation removes the resistance of the test leads from the reading.
Active, fuseless protection stops continuity measurement if an external voltage is detected.
Save, Transfer and Review Results
Store up to 1,300 measurement records and transfer them to a compatible computer using Bluetooth and the included Megohmmeter Transfer software.
The software also supports remote test activation, live graphical display and data export to CSV or XLS files. Optional DataView software creates customised measurement reports with site and operator details.
Practical for Site Use
A magnetic rear mount attaches the tester to a suitable metal surface, leaving your hands free for the leads. The casing provides IP54 enclosure protection, IK04 impact protection and a CAT IV 600 V safety rating.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1: What do PI and DAR mean?
A. PI means Polarisation Index. DAR means Dielectric Absorption Ratio. Both compare insulation resistance readings over time.
Q2: Is a remote control probe included?
A. The standard kit includes a test probe. The remote control probe is an optional accessory.
Q3: Is DataView software included?
A. Megohmmeter Transfer software is included. DataView is available separately for customised reporting.
