Megger PVM210 Key Features:

  • Simple handling: The built-in solar detector allows operation with one hand.
  • Clear display: Read measurements on a 3¾-digit LCD.
  • Solar measurement range: Measure incoming solar irradiance up to 1999 W/m² or 634 BTU/(ft²·h).
  • Measurement hold: Keep a reading on screen while you check it.
  • Selectable units: Switch between W/m² and BTU/(ft²·h).
  • Flexible mounting: A universal camera thread supports precise positioning.
  • Easy to carry: Pocket-sized design weighing approximately 90g.
  • Battery-saving function: Automatic power-off after 15 minutes.

Why choose the Megger PVM210?

✓ Assess solar panel positioning

The PVM210 helps you assess the initial position and incident angle of photovoltaic panels. Its irradiance readings support decisions about where to position a panel.

✓ Support panel verification

Use the PVM210 alongside a suitable ammeter to support short-circuit current calculations. Together, these measurements help you check the short-circuit current stated by the panel manufacturer. The PVM210 supplies the irradiance reading for this process.

✓ Make readings easier to manage

Use the meter in your hand for convenient measurements, or attach it using the rear camera mounting thread for precise placement. The hold function keeps the measured value visible until you are ready to continue.

How to Use the Measurement Controls

The PVM210 starts in W/m² mode. Press UNIT to select BTU/(ft²·h), then press it again to return to W/m².

If ‘OL’ appears because a reading exceeds 199.9 W/m², press RANGE to extend the range up to 1999 W/m². Press HOLD to keep a measurement on screen.

These controls give you direct access to unit selection, range changes and measurement hold.

What Comes with the Megger PVM210?

  • Megger PVM210 Irradiance Meter
  • Batteries
  • Protective Pouch
  • Calibration Certificate

The supplied pouch provides a place to keep the meter when it is not in use.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: What does the Megger PVM210 measure?

A. It measures solar irradiance: the solar power reaching a given area. Results are available in W/m² or BTU/(ft²·h), with a maximum range of 1999 W/m² or 634 BTU/(ft²·h).

Q2: Does it measure short-circuit current directly?

A. The PVM210 measures irradiance. A suitable ammeter is also needed when checking a panel’s short-circuit current against the manufacturer’s stated value.

Q3: How do I hold a reading on the screen?

A. Press the HOLD button to retain the current measurement. Press it again to return to live readings. This lets you check the displayed value before taking another measurement.

Q4: How is the PVM210 powered?

A. It uses two 1.5V AAA batteries, with approximately 50 hours of battery life. Automatic power-off after 15 minutes helps conserve battery power.

Q5: Are batteries and a calibration certificate included?

A. Yes. Megger supplies batteries, a protective pouch and a calibration certificate with the PVM210.

Q6: What warranty does the PVM210 have?

A. The user guide states a one-year guarantee against defects in materials or manufacture. This covers the instrument under the manufacturer’s stated warranty terms.

Note: Be sure to check the official datasheet before buying, and the user manual before using any test equipment. Need training? Just reach out - we’re happy to help.
