Socket & See TB118 Advanced Kit - The Gas Engineer‘s Electrical Safe isolation Kit
The most complete solution for gas engineers complying with TB118 (Technical Bulletin 118 – The safe isolation of gas appliances).
Every piece of this kit has been specifically chosen to address each part of TB118. The complete kit comprises of 8 parts, including the uniquely engineered Socket & See DLM PRO.
TB118 Check Power Supply Earthing With DLM PRO
The DLM PRO can carry out the required earth loop impedance test, without tripping the installation’s RCD. A loop impedance test can also be carried out at a fused spur prior to installation, as well as at a mains socket with the included SS130 socket interface adaptor.
The DLM PRO also includes basic multimeter functions to aid fault finding down to component level. The simplicity of this unit is very much favoured by gas engineers, compared to other units. Simply turn the dial to the required function to begin the test, there are no buttons to press. Furthermore, functions and terminals are colour coloured for easy operation.
TB118 Safe To Touch Test
Before servicing is carried out on a boiler, a sweep of the casing and any extraneous metal work should be carried out with non-contact voltage indicator to check for any hazardous voltages.
The Socket & See VVD PRO non-contact voltage detector strikes at 50v, and thanks to its CAT IV safety rating, is safe for voltage detection up to 1000V.
Feedback from the VVD PRO is provided both visually (red flashing tip) and physically by vibration.
TB118 Safe Isolation With Lock Out Tag Out
Supplied in the Advanced Kit are three lock off devices, allowing safe isolation in almost any environment:
(Each lock out device includes two warning tags which include space for the engineer’s details)
The purpose of a lock out device is to prevent the circuit the engineer is working on from becoming accidently reenergised, for example by a customer or colleague. Each lock out device includes two warning tags with space for the engineers name and contact information.
TB118 Safe Isolation: PROVE – CHECK – PROVE AGAIN
Many are familiar with two pole voltage indicators as a safe and affordable way to check if an appliance is electrically dead. The Socket & See VIP150 voltage indicator is included with the TB118 Advanced Kit.
The VIP150 is simple to use and small enough to access tight spaces and terminal blocks. There are no batteries or buttons to press. Indication of volts present is indicated by bright red LED.
IMPORTANT: Check the correct operation of the VIP150 both before and after checking for voltage at the appliance terminals.
PROVE – CHECK – PROVE AGAIN
The use of a ‘known source’ such as the SP400 proving unit is very important. Having a dedicated known source that is easily accessible saves time and encourages best practices.
